3 (groups of) visitors how had travelled from afar!
Heather and Barry Mann (AIM Lesotho - from Winchester) enjoying a picnic in the mountains near a vulture hide - no vultures but plenty of gannets! |
Barry is a slightly over keen professional photographer!! |
The same weekend as the Manns stay, we also had the St.Clairs family (also AIM Lesotho, but from America) stay a night with us on route to Johannesburg (we're about half way for them) as they were flying home to speak at a missions conference. Don't worry, Jonathan doesn't wear dresses, that's Heather in the picture! Jonathan was with Barry and Sam trying to fix their Land Rover (men stuff) when this picture was taken! They have a 3 year old boy who our boys enjoyed playing with - he's being held by Heather in the photo and a baby girl.
Left is a team from Guildford Baptist Church in our (temporory) house here. They have come out to pray for and encourage John and Shan Barry. John is AIM's Southern Region Executive Officer and is based in Johannesburg. As the shepherding TIMO team was his idea they brought the team to see us. They are currently in the mountains of Lesotho praying for the up coming work among the shepherds
Into Lesotho at last!
On Saturday we all crossed the boarder into Lesotho for the first time since arriving! We were invited to a 3 year olds birthday in a rural village about 90mins from the boarder post - half the drive was pretty bad dirt roads and the last section was 4x4 only!
Their house was 100m from this river that marks the border between Lesotho and SA. (Lesotho on the right, SA on the left)
House 4 and house 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were kicked out our house this weekend due to a beer festival in Clarens and they had booking already for our house!! So we moved back to Glen Skye in Fouriesburg for the weekend - but to a different house!
We should move into our 5th house this week - and hopefully stay there more permanently! We'll post some pictures once we're in!! (it will be our 6th home for 2014 including our house in England before we left!
Discovery vs Defender
ANOTHER break down - but this time not ours!!
After waiting WEEKS for our car to be repaired we were given permission to buy another vehicle and then to use the car at the garage as the future team vehicle - when it's eventually returned!!
We now have a Land Rover Discovery which is an exceptional car - great for the tarmac and exceptional when the tarmac ends - which we've had to test already!! When collogues visited us from Lesotho in their Land Rover Defender we couldn't miss the opportunity to take a picture of our Discovery having to tow the Defender up a hill so it could be jump started! ('Landy' fans will appreciate the irony of this!!)
